Few things I like my IT life and in my company

Few things I like my IT life and in my company
In one of my earlier articles published, I might have detailed the concerns or things that were bothering me in my current company and in this article, I wanted to list down the things that I like in my current IT life and at my company. Following is the couple of things that I like about my company and IT life
  • Work-Life balance on daily lifestyle: For most IT people, the work-life balance depends on the project that they work and the assignments that they get from the Client. Fortunately for me, I was able to get into a project or work, where I could get some time to look after my personal work and spend some time with my family on a regular basis.
  • No weekend support and relaxed work: Other than the routine work-life balance, one another important thing about working in IT is that providing support during weekend and work pressure during certain time. Fortunately for me in the current company, there were NO or minimal support during the weekend and the work was comfortable, where I could finish it off with ease due to longer duration in the company.

Above listed things are based on my personal experience, and it varies from person to person based on their needs or family commitments. For me, work-life balance and relaxed environment is more important than the money or career growth. Read more such articles or insights from my life by checking out the “G R Team Sites”

Disappointing Apple Watch 8 Launch in 2022

I was eagerly waiting to follow the scheduled Apple event in September 2022 to know whether there is any drastic new features or enhancements for Apple Watch Series 8. As, I was planning to get an Apple Watch Series for a long time and to my disappointment the Series 8 launch have been lukewarm for various reasons. Following are my observations on why the latest Apple Watch Series 8 announcement was disappointment
  • No major re-design as reported by rumors: From past year, there have been concrete rumors that Apple was planning for complete design overhaul for Apple Watch series and the Series 8 would be the product that would have major redesign. However, to quash all rumors Apple has launched Watch Series 8 with the same design as Series 7 and much to disappointment for enthusiasts, the Series 8 incorporates the same processors from the earlier version.
  • Lack of unique stand-out feature other than temperature sensor: Another disappointing announcement from Apple on Watch Series 8 was that there was no unique features or enhancements to the product other than temperature sensors. Even with the temperature sensors availability, most enthusiasts thought that Apple would bring in additional health monitoring features and to my surprise, there was not a single mention about new health monitoring other than women’s menstrual cycle tracking.

With the above disappointing factors with the latest Apple Watch Series 8, for most users buying the Series 7 during the shopping sale would make much sense than opting for the latest version of Apple Watch. To read more such articles, please feel free to check out the “G R Team Sites”

Work-life balance or money matters in IT professionals’ life

In recent times, there has been a huge increase in attrition rates across the IT companies and most professionals prefer higher package while switching. While it may depend on individual’s preference and may often have justification for their preferences. However, I prefer work-life balance and peace of mind over higher package. Following was few of my perception on why I prefer to stay in my current job over the high paying new job:
  • Getting work done in quick time and leveraging internal connects: When your stay in a company for a long time, it always works out for you, as you can get your work completed in quick time and reach out to peers for any additional queries or suggestions. However, if you are moving to new company, if you must figure out things to get it done and may find difficulties in reaching out to relevant stakeholders to get clarifications.
  • Work-Life balance and peace of mind: Often work-life balance depends on the specific project and company’s policies. If you are tagged into a good project with no work on weekends or late nights and have comfortable work exposure at your existing company, then there is no point in switching to the new job and lose out your peace of mind or invaluable times with your family.

Above perception of not to change job for high pay package may change for person to person and it always based on individual’s preference of whether they want more money or peace of mind. For more such articles, please feel free to check out the articles published in “G R Team Sites”

How To Prepare Your Home For Winter

It’s important to winterize your home every year to help protect your home and property.

Temperature Control

Get your heating system checked by a professional before the season begins to avoid needing any major repairs when the temperatures fall. Keep your home at a comfortable temperature by setting your thermostat to automatically turn on when the temperature drops below 65 degrees Fahrenheit.  Carefully check around every window and doorframe for any cracks or openings. Seal any leaks with caulk or install weather stripping to prevent cold air from seeping in. Keep a few faucets running when temperatures drop below freezing to protect your pipes from freezing and bursting.

Dealing With Ice

Along with the freezing rain and snow comes the hazard of slippery black ice. Always wear snow boots when you go outside to avoid slipping on any icy spots. Keep your driveway and sidewalks clear during a winter storm. Frequently shovel snow and use cement-safe deicing salt to prevent ice from forming on your pathways. Keep a durable mat by your front door and entryways for added traction. Ice, wind, and snow can also damage plants and weaken trees. Prevent damage from fallen branches by removing dead plants and keeping others well-trimmed.

Prevent Water Damage

For additional protection from the rain and snow, keep your gutters clean and free from any blockages. If your land isn’t graded properly, you might need help moving water away from your home. Downspouts are extensions that can be added to most gutter systems to help prevent water from pooling up and ruining the foundation. If water does not properly drain away from your home, you may end up with water in your basement. Consider installing a sump pump if your home is prone to frequent flooding.

With these things in mind, you can better prepare your home for the freezing temperatures that come along with the winter season.
