About Us
About GRaguInformation
The device is lovely and the account behind it is not yours. That is the thread here. We write about living inside one company’s ecosystem for years at a time, what it gets right, and what it quietly makes difficult when you try to leave.
- GRaguInformation has been running since 2008 and is still publishing. There are more than 800 articles here you can search.
- These are ownership notes, written after years rather than a fortnight. When something is praised here, it is because it survived, and when it is criticised, it is because it kept getting in the way. Advertising and sponsored placement pay for the site, and paid links say so. Nobody has bought a kind word about a product that quietly locked its own users in.
- The questions are practical ones about your own things. Where does this photo actually live. Can I take my library with me if I stop paying. What happens to all of it if I switch.
- We criticise design that we mostly like, which annoys both camps. It is the only honest position left after using these things this long.
- Follow along and you keep a clearer picture of where your own data is sitting, which matters most on the day you decide to move it. You leave with your own files, which is not something the account itself guarantees.
We keep the hardware until it stops. That is where design criticism comes from here, because a thing you have used for six years tells you more than a thing you have held for six days. The data thread works the same way.
G Ragu, editor: what owning a device costs years after the shop
G Ragu edits GRaguInformation. The thread here is what ownership costs long after the purchase: the storage plan you cannot leave, the repair only one company will do, the update that stops arriving. Drafts work those costs out over the life of the device, with the assumptions shown.
- Apple's own support documents, price lists and repair terms are the source for every Apple claim, with the month checked.
- Costs over three to five years are calculated with the working visible.
- Advice on accounts, backups and security names the setting and where to find it.
- Every figure is traced to the document that produced it. For GRaguInformation that usually means Apple Support documents, repair pricing and warranty terms, EU and Indian rules on repair and charging ports, and manufacturers' service schedules. Prices and plan terms carry the month they were checked.
- Each article adds working you will not find in the coverage it draws on: a worked example with its assumptions shown, a cost over time, or a side-by-side reading of the actual rules.
- Measurements are credited to the independent lab that made them. When nothing was tested hands-on, the article says so.
- Each article closes with a short “How we checked this” note listing its sources and the date it was last verified.
- G Ragu reviews every article after it goes live. If something is wrong or out of date, write to us and it is corrected with a dated note.
A device you love is still a device somebody else can change the rules on.
Check where your own files live.
Follow along and the next upgrade arrives with fewer surprises attached. Keep reading. If a piece here gets one person to check where their photos actually live before a subscription quietly lapses, the whole exercise has paid for itself.
GRaguInformation has published on egc-avignon.com since 2008, on one beat: Apple ecosystem critique and everyday data control. The publisher is G R Sites — a trading name rather than an incorporated company, writing since 2008.
Funding is disclosed advertising and sponsored placement, and nothing else: no paywall, no
subscription, no affiliate network. Every paid placement carries rel="sponsored" and
is labelled where it appears. Advertisers get no sight of a piece before it runs and cannot have a
label removed.
One editorial policy covers all fifteen titles — sourcing, authorship, where AI is used, corrections and disclosure. It states that no author identity or credential is ever invented. Read the editorial standards, or write to [email protected]. A correction request is acknowledged by a person within 24 hours.
GRaguInformation is one of fifteen titles published by G R Sites, an independent publisher writing since 2008, under one editorial policy and one disclosure standard. The other fourteen look at the rest of the same shelf. The router. The warranty. The bill that went up without a message.
